dūra (adj.) [Sk. dūra, Ved. duva (stirring, urging on), compar. davīyān, Av. dūrō (far), *dāu; cp. Ohg. zawen, Goth. taujan=E. do. Another form is *deṷā, far in respect to time, as in Gr. dh/n, dhro/n, Lat. dū – dum (cp. dū – rare=en – dure).
